Benjamin + Charlotte St Marys Bampton wedding film

3rd September Benjamin & Charlotte – Filmed at Bampton St Mary church & Friars court, Oxfordshire

The way you look at me just melts me.”

The groom’s words to his new bride epitomized his utter adoration for her, which had been clear throughout the day. Ben and Charlotte’s wedding in the picturesque church of St Mary the Virgin, Bampton (of Downton Abbey fame), was a heart-warming affair of two families being brought together. The rain did not dampen spirits in the slightest, and Ben became very accomplished at guiding his new wife across the lawns with an umbrella carefully held above her head to keep her dry.

Charlotte wore an exquisite satin and lace dress, with a spectacular mermaid skirt and delicate, capped lace sleeves, and she was supported by four captivating bridesmaids in gowns of softest blush. Ben, understandably, needed a supportive and reassuring pat on the back from his best man as the bridal party began their slow and sedate walk up the aisle towards him, and he was overcome briefly by his emotions. During the ceremony, there was one particularly giggly moment when Ben appeared to drop one of the rings- but they collected themselves and managed to keep straight faces throughout the more solemn parts of the service! A charming folk band regaled the congregation with an acoustic version of the much-loved hymn, ‘How Great Thou Art,’ while the bride and groom signed the register surrounded by their closest family. They emerged, husband and wife, to rapturous applause.

Taking shelter from the rain in the luxurious Rolls Royce awaiting them outside, Ben and Charlotte were handed a glass of champagne each to signal the start of a wonderful celebration. Silver hearts hung from the trees at Friars Court where the reception took place, whilst inside there were pink and white globe lanterns cascading from the ceiling. Charlotte’s father gave a moving speech in honour of his daughter and new son-in-law, and he gave them wise words of advice from his own 34 years of marriage experience: he pointed out the pearl Ben had given Charlotte, symbolizing that “from difficulty, something beautiful can be produced.”  For the couple’s first dance, they surprised their guests with a choreographed number for which they were joined by their closest friends and family, much to everyone’s delight. It was a fantastic end to a magical day!
