Sarah & James Notley Abbey Wedding Video , 19th of April 2014

Sarah and James sensibly held their wedding over the Easter weekend, giving every one the chance to relax into the festivities without the pressure of work knocking on the door. Notley Abbey has hosted luminaries of the likes of King Henry VIII, Katherine Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, but I am fairly certain none of them were more excited to be there than James and Sarah. The picturesque setting was complemented by wonderful sunshine. It was ideal for shooting a this Notley Abbey wedding video Buckinghamshire.

The bride looked incredible in her romantic lace dress which was subtly embellished with crystals, and it wasn’t just me who thought so. Sarah’s father’s reaction was a treat when he caught sight of his daughter for the first time. Though the spring flowers were in bloom, they paled in comparison to Sarah’s English Rose beauty.

There was a rustic yet stylish vibe to Sarah and James’ wedding, from their choice of location with its crunchy gravel drive and soft weathered stone, to the bright yellow flowers by Fiona Bissett Powell, chalkboard signs, and alternative wedding cake made from tiers of different cheeses. It fit this romantic couple to a T. The ceremony was simple yet touching, and as guests threw rose petal confetti in the path of the newlyweds, photographer James Davidson and I got some fantastic shots.

In a clever touch I’ve never seen before, tables at the reception were named after years of important dates in history, culminating with 2014 for the bridal table. Speeches were as beautifully sentimental as I had come to expect from the pair, and Sarah wasn’t the only one welling up as her proud dad, Geoff, paid testament to her.

You would think that after so many weddings I’d be immune, but I never fail to be touched by a romantic celebration of love like this. Congratulations Mr and Mrs Slingerland!

Lucy & Karl Down Hall Wedding Video, 6th of April 2014

It’s hard to take a bad shot of Down Hall, making it ideal as a setting for the romantic occasion of Lucy and Karl’s wedding video. The historical and luxurious country house was full of laughter as this very groovy couple tied the knot and it was a pleasure to film their wedding video Hertfordshire.

Lucy chose the colour of her bridesmaid’s and flower girls’ dresses and flowers perfectly. The cream, mauve and soft pink coordinated with the elegant interior of Down Hall’s ceremony and reception rooms. There was just the right amount of glitter on her gown and accessories to catch the light from the chandeliers, but even that sparkle couldn’t rival Lucy’s radiance as she made her way down the grand staircase to the ceremony room. After a touching wedding, everyone spilled out into the garden to enjoy the beautiful gardens before making their way back into the beautiful dining room lit by towering silver candelabra on the tables.

A sense of love and family ties flowed through the occasion, both in the family photos placed around the room and in Karl’s touching acknowledgement of absent loved ones. Sentimental tears soon turned to laughter as he serenaded his surprised and delighted bride with a rendition of “I’m Amazed by You”. It was clear Lucy shared Karl’s love of the spotlight as the couple looked very comfortable performing their choreographed first dance to that Phil Collins classic “Groovy Kind of Love”. Lovelight Entertainment provided a fab mix of tunes that had virtually everyone shaking their funky stuff on the dance floor.

I get the feeling that, while Karl may be known as a bit of a joker to his friends, he’s a sentimental softy at heart. He said in his speech that he wasn’t marrying the woman he lived with, but the woman he didn’t want to live without and it was clear that Lucy felt the same way. Congratulations both, and thanks for letting me create your wedding video Down Hall.
