7 reasons autumn weddings are the best
I know it feels as though we haven’t really had a summer, but you could argue that autumn is a better season anyway. Beautiful autumnal colours in the trees; comfy warm clothes; hot drinks in front of crackling fires! And of course, autumn is one of the best times to have a wedding, especially if you want a stunning cinematic wedding film that will stand the test of time. Why? Read on to find out.
1.The temperature is perfect
The great thing about autumnal weddings is the temperature is more or less likely to be just right. Yes, there is more chance of rain, but given the UK’s weather, even if you get married in the summer, you can’t guarantee a rain-free day. Even worse, if we do have one of our summer heatwaves, do you really want to get married when it’s boiling hot? Not only will you potentially have an awful night’s sleep the night before, but you are more likely to feel all hot and flushed on the big day. And who wants that?!
And although winter weddings are magical in their own way, if it’s bitterly cold then it’s not fun for anyone, especially if your wedding venue has amazing grounds you want captured in your cinematic wedding film and photos. And the cold weather also isn’t great if you’ve got lots of aged aunts and uncles on your guest list!
2. Visually stunning cinematic wedding films and photos
Your day will go by super-fast, so you’ll want wedding videography services along with a wedding photographer to ensure you have a permanent reminder of your day.
And let’s face it, if you are after a magical backdrop full of colour and romance, what could be better than autumnal trees displaying stunning yellow and red leaves? Just imagine how that will look from the sky with drone footage to give the extra wow to your wedding film.
And even though you might not like the fact the nights get darker earlier, there is something undeniably romantic about being filmed and photographed under a tree festooned with fairy lights. You could even get your guests to light up the night with sparklers – a fun and memorable addition to any cinematic wedding film.
3. The light is perfect for a cinematic wedding film
Lighting can make or break a wedding film, which is why autumn is one of my favourite seasons. The lighting tends to take on a golden, warming hue at this time of year, which makes it perfect for creating an atmospheric wedding film. Just take a look at this cinematic wedding film to see what I mean.
4. People are more likely to be able to attend
A lot of people choose the summer months for a wedding as people are more likely to be able to have time off work, but it’s a bit of a double-edged sword as there is a chance your big day will clash with their own summer holidays.
The autumn months tend to mean less potential calendar issues and also accommodation and travel won’t be as costly as during the summer months. A definite win for everyone.
5. You might get a great wedding deal
And talking of money, autumn isn’t peak season for weddings (leave that to spring and summer), which means you might be able to get a great deal and afford your dream venue without breaking the bank.
6. You’ll have the choice of some wonderful wedding flowers
Autumn’s colour palette doesn’t just extend to the trees outside, but also to your choice of wedding flowers. Gerberas, roses, chrysanthemums or even sunflowers coupled with dried products such as dried wheat or pampas grass will give you a dramatic display that perfectly ties in with the season.
7. And then of course there is the food!
While you might not want hot dogs on your wedding day, autumn is traditionally associated with comforting, hearty food that will help make your wedding feast one to remember.
Think quail with figs and walnuts, venison in a red current jus or wild mushroom and truffle risotto. And who wouldn’t want blackberry crumble or dark chocolate orange tart on their wedding day? And of course, don’t forget the mulled cider and hot chocolate!
To make the most of the season, choose a venue or caterer who focus on providing locally-sourced, seasonal food like some of the venues where I am a preferred supplier.
