25Th May 2019 Natalie & Pete wedding video Dovecote barn, Oxfordshire videographer

Our Love Story

How did you guys meet?
Pete & I first knew of each other from working at Biffa, where Natalie still works. It wasn’t until a few years later, when Pete had left to join the Royal Marines, that Natalie & Pete met on a night out in the White Hart. Pete is convinced he chased Natalie for around 18 months prior to them getting together, although Natalie never saw it that way!

Tell me a bit about the two of you, what do you guys do? How do you spend your time?Pete is in the Royal Marines, due to leave a week prior to the wedding to start a new career in the Police (June 2019)
Natalie works for Biffa, waste company and has done for the last eight years.
We enjoy spending time with our young dog Duke and seeing friends and family. We do not currently get heaps of time together, usually just weekends so the wedding and Pete’s change in career will be a completely new beginning for us both.

How did the proposal go down? (all the gushy details, I love this bit!)
Pete & I went to Cape Verde for Christmas 2016, it was on the Christmas Eve that Pete proposed using one of my empty gin bottles (I love gin and I keep any unique bottles to gather dust in our home!) which he used to conceal a poem (on tea stained piece of paper)! He had one of the reps hide the bottle that evening on the beach, all of this being planned under my nose during the holiday, and after dinner we went for a short walk in which we came across the hidden capsule. Pete was in a leg brace as he had dislocated his knee a few weeks prior to the wedding so getting down on one knee was rememberable for numerous reasons. After I said, yes, apparently it felt like forever for Pete but I genuinely was in shock, the reps ran over and popped open a bottle of champers. It was a super magical holiday and I could go on about it forever!
How did you choose your wedding venue(s)?
Dovecote was the first venue we ever visited – we wanted a barn theme but somewhere we hadn’t been to before for friends or family weddings. On first site of the barn it was just perfect, super chilled and not overly formal. Since we booked in 2017 the barn has undergone a number of cosmetic changes all of which we are super thrilled about and has made the barn even more special.

What sort of experience do you want your guests to have?
Chilled, enjoyable experience with lots of laughter and fun!

Can you describe some of the details and stylings, does your wedding have a theme?
Rustic, delicate with a lot of greenery/foliage – we have tried to stick with the barn rustic vibe to not over complicate.

What was the hardest decision during the planning?
Ties!!!! Haha!

What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?
Remain calm, do not overthink or give yourself too many options! Plenty of time to plan gives you a chance to take everything in its individual strides!

26th August 2018 Tom & Charlotte Dovecote barn wedding video, Oxfordshire videographer

2018 was a very long and hot summer until storm Debby swept in and ended the heatwave briefly. The weather didn’t stop the high spirits as Tom & Charlotte arrived at Dovecote barn in some seriously classic VW camper vans.

The Proposal

“When Tom & Charlotte announced that they would shortly be celebrating their engagement with a marriage of special magnificence, there was much talk and excitement in Hobbiton.”

One day, long ago in 2016, Tom decided he liked it and had better put a ring on it. So, with all the mystery & subterfuge a 6’1″ and slightly clumsy man could muster he set out to buy the perfect ring.

After shopping for an entire day and with the help of several friends he finally found the ring he would use to entrap Charlotte for the rest their lives. It was beautiful and hurt his wallet.

Perfect.

Just like Frodo, Tom made it his mission to carry the ring to a distant land and all the way up to the top of a volcano. And just like Samwise, Charlotte supported him every single step of the way; especially on the hike up the volcano itself because Tom’s legs were cramping and it was touch and go as to whether he’d make it to the top at all.

Once they reached the summit, Tom got down on one knee. His legs were cramping again and he needed a break. However, once the break was over he opened a very special box and asked a magical question.

Charlotte said, “Yes.”
