Our wedding film love story

How did you guys meet?

We actually met through tinder…. what sparked the attraction was our love for rowing & Steve’s profile of him rowing internationally

Tell me a bit about the two of you, what do you guys do? How do you spend your time?

Emily – Consultant midwife

Steve – Commando Army Soldier (British Military) & international rowing athlete (Zimbabwe)

We are both very fit & love to take on various challenges to push ourselves – whether that be competing for our countries in rowing or Emily through her London marathon / recent Olympic distance triathlon or Steve setting course record in part of his commando course

Steve is from Zimbabwe & Emily from Wales – both of us have a real passion for each other’s countries & love to explore outdoors.

Emily has a real vibe & love for music (stemming from when she was younger) – music & vibrance is a big theme of the wedding or at least the goal 🙂

How did the proposal go down? (all the gushy details, I love this bit!)

Steve proposed at the “The Hide Hwange National Safari Park – Zimbabwe”.

4 days 3 nights…. surrounded by incredible scenery & opportunity to see the big five through our luxury safari camp. After the proposal – we celebrated by a safari drive/champagne & then a candlelight dinner in the middle of hwange national park – up in what’s called the “Doves Nest” – a treehouse with a luxury bed & bar…..all luxury tented. Waking up to the wilder beasts/zebra

How did you choose your wedding venue(s)?

As above

We were meant to get married in Victoria Falls Zimbabwe – after cancelling in 2020  because of Covid then again in 2021 – we thought with the uncertainty of travel, we just needed to get married. Therefore, booked for Cotswolds as it is a beautiful area & the church/venue being in our local area felt right (after moving to Farringdon in February 2021). Wedding plans started from scratch in the UK (end of July 2021 for October Wedding)

What sort of experience do you want your guests to have?

Vibrant, fun, spiritual & musical vibe ….. maintaining the formalities, but allowing a relaxed African party vibe to evolve

Can you describe some of the details and stylings, does your wedding have a theme?

Vintage chic (1920) vibe with African boho twist

i.e. marimba band – drinks

Favours African

What was the hardest decision during the planning?

Rescheduling especially through the heartache of 2020

What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?

Be you & do what’s right for you…..plus remember why you’re getting married. It can be very easy to get drawn away into all the planning etc and lose sight
