Our wedding film love story
How did you guys meet?
Tim and I were set up by close friends of ours at the end of June 2020. The second and third lockdowns accelerated our relationship and we moved in together in December 2020. After surviving the third lockdown in a small house with an 8-year-old and a temporary lodger, we knew it was meant to be.
Tell me a bit about the two of you, what do you guys do? How do you spend your time?
Around busy work schedules, we enjoy being active, socialising with friends and getting out and about. We love going out for dinners and relaxing with tea and cake at the weekends. We spend half of our time with Tim’s daughter Poppy and arrange fun things to do with her.
How did the proposal go down? (All the gushy details, I love this bit!)
Tim arranged for a surprise weekend away to Oxford (under the pretense of a birthday trip away for me). We stayed in the most expensive suite in the Malmasion Hotel in the Oxford Castle and visited my favourite restaurants. On the first night of our stay, Tim left a small present for me on the bed which I found on our return from dinner at The Ivy. It was a box containing reasons why he loved me – the last one being “Because I know you’ll say yes”.
Being completely overwhelmed, I made Tim do the whole proposal all over again so it could sink in – I didn’t listen to anything he said the first time as I was in complete shock.
How did you choose your wedding venue(s)?
We fell in love with Notley Abbey from our first visit. It was the first venue we saw and knew it ticked all of our boxes.
What sort of experience do you want your guests to have?
We want our guests to enjoy themselves, socialise and feel relaxed throughout the day.
Can you describe some of the details and stylings, does your wedding have a theme?
Overall, we have a fairly classic theme – black tuxedos, white dress and flowers etc. We didn’t want an overwhelming amount of colour so we have stuck to a rose gold/blush colour pallet for the few decorations we have.
What was the hardest decision during the planning?
Choosing a date that suited our availability but also had the possibility of nice weather.
What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?
Plan ahead, write everything down and keep it personal to you.
