Our wedding film love story
How did you guys meet?
We met at the UNIQ summer school in Oxford in 2013, when we were seventeen. We quickly became best friends and stayed in touch ever since. When we started university, we found ourselves in the same classes and eventually started dating. We’re getting married back where we met, ten years on!
Tell me a bit about the two of you, what do you guys do? How do you spend your time?
After finishing degrees in Chemistry, we both decided to pursue careers in the financial sector in London. We both enjoy travelling and try to go away as often as we can! We also like to go for walks in the countryside, which helped to keep us sane as we came out of various lockdowns!
How did the proposal go down? (All the gushy details, I love this bit!)
After the COVID-19 lockdowns, we started going for walks in Kent. One of these was an eight-mile loop, where we got very lost. A year later, on our five-year anniversary, Jack took us back on that same walk and proposed in the clearing at the top of a tall hill, with a beautiful view across the fields in Sevenoaks.
How did you choose your wedding venue(s)?
We decided to get married in Oxford, as this is where we had met ten years earlier. Katie studied at Merton so we chose the chapel for our ceremony. Punting is part of Oxford life, so Cherwell Boathouse was perfect!
What sort of experience do you want your guests to have?
We can’t wait for our guests to celebrate with us. We’d love for everyone to feel relaxed and have fun!
Can you describe some of the details and stylings, does your wedding have a theme?
There’s no theme, but the ceremony in the chapel will be traditional whereas the reception in the boathouse will be more modern.
What was the hardest decision during the planning?
Picking the venues!
What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?
A longer engagement gives more time to plan.
