Our wedding film love story
How did you guys meet?
We met in a cocktail bar in Shoreditch on a cold October night. We hit it off, went on a few more dates and here we are!
Tell me a bit about the two of you, what do you guys do? How do you spend your time?
Paul works in insurance and Katya recently qualified as an accountant – she’s now taking a career break and has become a full-time wedding planner. In our free time, we like to travel to new places (a lot), try new things and hang out with our friends. Paul supports Charlton and has a season ticket – Katya does not. We’re both big foodies and sampled a lot of new cuisines in lockdown!
How did the proposal go down? (all the gushy details, I love this bit!)
On our 3-year anniversary, Paul planned a surprise weekend at the Four Seasons Trinity Square, which is next to the Tower of London. After the Tower of London had closed, Paul arranged for us to have the Tower of London to ourselves and had the Chief Exhibitor give us a private tour of the Crown Jewels. At the end of the tour, in front of the Imperial State Crown, a nervous Paul got down on one knee and popped the question. He then proceeded to put the ring on the wrong finger.
How did you choose your wedding venue(s)?
Katya grew up near Coworth Park and had always loved the venue, especially the wild flower meadow. We both visited last year and, fortunately, Paul liked it too.
What sort of experience do you want your guests to have?
Fun, non-pretentious, exciting, surprising, non-clichéd.
Can you describe some of the details and stylings, does your wedding have a theme?
No theme as such. The ceremony will take place in a wildflower meadow, which doesn’t need much decorating. We’ll have a string quartet which will play at the ceremony and then continue to play at the drink’s reception in the rose garden – we will have lawn games for people to play with. We also have a roaming magician to lighten the mood. The wedding breakfast will be held in the contemporary Oval room, which we will decorate with pastel-colored flowers. The evening reception will be held in the Garden room where we will have 2 bands performing one after the other.
What was the hardest decision during the planning?
Deciding when to plan the wedding – Covid has thrown up many surprises, but fortunately we timed it just right
What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?
We would advise other couples to get a good videographer, like Mark Shipperley.
