Our wedding film love story
How did you guys meet?
Bedford College 2013 – On the theatre tech gantry. I was inducting as a student.
Tell me a bit about the two of you, what do you guys do? How do you spend your time?
We are both in the entertainment industry, Matt is a rigger and lighting technician and I am a stage manager and scenery artist and maker.
We love being outdoors and the Lake District is our favourite place in the world. We enjoy paddle boarding and kayaking, walking and going to the theatre. Our work has always been the biggest part of our lives touring the USA, Canada and Mexico over the last 4 years.
How did the proposal go down? (All the gushy details, I love this bit!)
On the 25th September 2020, Matt and I FINALLY were able to pick up the keys to our first house After a 6 month struggle and constant stress and tears trying to get our mortgage approved etc… We left our work in Luton and went to the development and got our keys and looked around our beautiful new home with our closest friends and my sister who were helping us move our stuff out of my parent’s house that evening. We were having photos outside the house with our keys and then Matt got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in the archway of our front door. I cried and he hugged me as I blubbered. Was a very lovely thing as he isn’t one for PDA.
How did you choose your wedding venue(s)?
Matt has actually done a Call of Duty event here for work and rung me 3 years ago to say ‘If we ever get married, we’re getting married here’. And that was it, I fell in love with the whole venue!
What sort of experience do you want your guests to have?
FUN! chilled out, and full of love and happiness. It was always so important to have everyone we care about together.
Can you describe some of the details and stylings, does your wedding have a theme?
We are having a very rustic/ vintage theme. Gin bottles, bunting, fairy lights, LOADS of flowers. All of our tables are themed to our favourite places we have travelled to.
What was the hardest decision during the planning?
Deciding who to have during the day and not in the evening. As you can imagine it gets very political!
What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?
ALWAYS, do what you want to do. You’re spending a lot of money and it’s the Bride and Groom’s day not anyone else’s.
