Our wedding film love story
How did you guys meet?
We met whilst working at the Rose and thistle pub, Haddenham.
Tell me a bit about the two of you, what do you guys do? How do you spend your time?
We are both very food orientated, asides from working around food for our whole lives, we love to eat. Food festivals are always a highlight for us. Travelling has played a big part in our life, having been abroad together for 4 years, backpacking and working.
How did the proposal go down? (All the gushy details, I love this bit!)
We had arranged to come back to England for Adams’ mum’s 70th birthday in April 2018. Adam had always wanted to take Kelly to Hong Kong (where he was born) we coincided going to Hong Kong with the trip back to England, which also tied in our anniversary on 13th April. (For a bonus we won a bid for an upgrade to business class flights). Our anniversary was on our first full day in Hong Kong where we went up to the peak which is near where Adam grew up. We took a walk along the Peak path to a quiet spot which overlooked Hong Kong and the apartment block Adam grew up in. Adam told Kelly he has a surprise and to close her eyes and when she opened them, he was on one knee with the ring. After alot of sobbing, happiness, and pictures we left the spot, a couple of minutes later Kelly asked if she had said yes (she had not at this point, although was wearing the ring so it was a foregone conclusion)
How did you choose your wedding venue(s)?
Kelly’s family have been going to Cuddington church through several generations and she has always wanted to get married there. We will have a party next year which will be held at Manor Farm barn in Marsh Gibbon. We knew roughly what sort of size venue we wanted and that we wanted a nice, relaxed atmosphere from it. We went to numerous wedding fayres along the way. We had a working relationship with Manor Farm Barn as we were working for caterers who were listed there and we eventually realised it would be a lovely place for us to be, ticking the right boxes along the way.
What sort of experience do you want your guests to have?
Being such a small wedding, we are just looking forward to spending quality time with everyone there.
Can you describe some of the details and stylings, does your wedding have a theme?
The wedding has no given theme but will be traditional in the aspects we do.
What was the hardest decision during the planning?
Juggling covid and moving dates. Eventually making the decision to just get married rather than trying to guess when’s and ifs. Alot of things seemingly fell into place once we chose a reception venue and photographer as there is alot of help and support they both offer in terms of ideas and other suppliers to use.
What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?
Plan early, and choose your reception, caterer, photographer, and videographer as early as possible, once these 4 aspects are sorted everything tends to fit around it.
