Our wedding film love story
How did you guys meet?
We first met at sixth form at Chatham Grammar School for Girls although barely said a word to each other. We bumped into each other on a night out in Rochester 5 years later and haven’t been apart since.
Tell me a bit about the two of you, what do you guys do? How do you spend your time?
Max has recently started his own company and I am a stay-at-home mum. Max likes to attend the football and I enjoy catching up with friends. Together we enjoy spending weekends on days out with the children and visiting family.
How did the proposal go down? (All the gushy details, I love this bit!)
Max planned a day out in London to go and see Aladdin in theatre which I had always wanted to go and see. The children were collected in the morning by my parents, and we were looking forward to a night away.
We headed off into the city and checked into the most amazing hotel who had upgraded our room. We headed off to straight to the show which was everything I had hoped it would be.
After that we hit some bars and had a few drinks and decided it would be a good idea to go on the London Eye. We booked in to go to the Eye Lounge beforehand to have another drink. As we were having a drink we spotted a couple that looked very loved up and I joked to Max that they would be getting engaged and how much I would hate that if it was us. I would prefer a much more private proposal ( I later found out that had I not have mentioned this he would have proposed on the London Eye).
Once our time on the Eye had finished on Max’s advice we headed back to our hotel to freshen up before heading out to dinner. We arrived at the hotel, and I got changed and re did my make up. Max was having a chill out on the bed waiting for me to be ready as per usual.
Whenever I get ready I always listen to music, and I always pick the playlist however on this occasion Max asked for the phone and changed my music to Coldplay. One of my all-time favourite songs is Yellow. At this point I’m now ready to go back out and Max is keeping me waiting while he was faffing around. He changed the song over to Yellow as I’m stood in the doorway and he dropped down onto one knee and asked me to marry him. I was in complete shock and couldn’t stop crying. It took me what felt like forever to say I would.
Immediately I called my parents and sister to tell them the news to which they all said…finally we have been waiting all day to hear this!
Everybody was in on it, and everyone knew.
We then headed straight out to celebrate in Leicester @quare and drunk way too much but had a brilliant evening all the same.
How did you choose your wedding venue(s)?
Lenham Church was an easy choice for us as I had always wanted to get married there and I have a family connection to the church and Lenham.
Chilston Park was easy too and it had everything we wanted, it was close by and again had a personal connection to Max as his parents also got married there.
What sort of experience do you want your guests to have?
We hope that after the pandemic people will just enjoy the day as we have waited for so long. This is our 3rd date, so we are hoping for lots of love and partying.
Can you describe some of the details and stylings, does your wedding have a theme?
We have gone for lots of Ivory, burgundy and greenery. As it’s in December, there will also be Christmas decorations that the hotel will already have up. Although we are trying to steer away from too much of a Christmas theme.
We will have large centerpieces and sashes for the back of the chairs.
What was the hardest decision during the planning?
Having to re arrange twice has been the most difficult for us as well as completely changing the themew e were originally going for due to moving from a June wedding to a December one.
What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?
I would say that its easy to get caught up in making sure your day is perfect but after postponing we have realised all that’s really important is sharing the day with each other and our closest family and friends.
