Our wedding film love story

How did you guys meet?

We met at sixth form, aged 17. We were introduced by Mick’s childhood friend who was also at the same sixth form, Sam Cannings (best man). After sixth form we both went to Newcastle for Uni; Mick went to Newcastle Uni and Jodie went to Northumbria Uni. Mick moved to Leamington Spa after Uni and Jodie joined him there a few years later, and this is where we are settled now.

Tell me a bit about the two of you, what do you guys do? How do you spend your time?

Mick is Head of Project Management at a software company based in Leeds.

Jodie is a Trainee Clinical Psychologist for the NHS.

In our spare time, we like to be active and go on walks with our dog, Jessie. We enjoy an active social life too and often go out with friends for meals and drinks.

How did the proposal go down? (all the gushy details, I love this bit!)

We were away for the weekend in Northumberland, visiting Bamburgh Castle at Bamburgh beach, a beach we used to go to when at Uni. Walking along the beach, Mick suggested going to sit in the sand dunes next to the Castle, overlooking the beach. We were speaking about a friend’s upcoming wedding and Mick said “then we should start planning ours, will you marry me”.

How did you choose your wedding venue(s)?

We always knew we wanted to get married in a barn-style venue and since moving to Leamington, we have come to love the Cotswolds, so we visited about 5 barn venues in the Cotswolds and we loved Caswell House as soon as we saw it.

What sort of experience do you want your guests to have?

Down to earth and good fun!!

Can you describe some of the details and stylings, does your wedding have a theme?

Simple and sophisticated.

Lots of white flowers and green foliage.

What was the hardest decision during the planning?

Choosing the wedding music band was hard. It seemed all the bands only wanted to share their promo videos and we wanted to hear some real-event examples of their work. There was also so much choice which was great but made it far harder to narrow it down and choose one.

What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?

Start the planning early. We had a two-year engagement and got the majority of planning done in the first 12 months, which meant the final 12 months were more relaxed and we could really enjoy the planning of the finer detail.
