Planning a wedding? 6 amazing wedding venues that should be on your shortlist
Do you fancy a rustic barn for your big day? Is a contemporary house better suited to your style? Choosing a wedding venue has got to be one of the most enjoyable and stressful things you will ever do!
As a wedding videographer, I am privileged to spend time with my lovely couples on their big day, capturing forever those all-important moments and emotions. It also means I get to visit all kinds and types of wedding venues here in the UK, Europe and the rest of world.
The following are a few of my favourite UK wedding venues and all of them are absolutely perfect for creating a cinematic wedding video
The Rustic charm of the Tythe Barn, Launton Oxfordshire
As the lovely people who own Tythe Barn put it themselves, “weddings…they’re our thing”.
Surrounded by beautiful fields, the Tythe Barn was built between 1360 and 1370, and still retains the majority of its 22 foot original beams.
Fully licensed for civil ceremonies and just a short walk from a stunning 12th century church, wedding parties get exclusive use of 3 beautifully restored barns set amid immaculate manicured lawns. There is even a luxurious bridal preparation area and a stunning bridal suite! All perfect for great wedding videos!
What I particularly love about this wedding venue is that it provides a blank canvas upon which you can create your own special wedding day. Each of the couples for whom I’ve created a cinematic wedding video had their own sense of unique style, and the Tythe Barn allowed them to capture it perfectly.
The elegance of the Latimer Estate, Buckinghamshire
Nestling in the rolling Buckinghamshire countryside, but just 10 minutes from the M25, the majestic De Vere Latimer Estate is a wonderful setting for a wedding day and offers some great opportunities for amazing wedding videography.
The Victorian mansion house at the centre of the estate has recently undergone a £7m refurbishment, so offers the perfect blend of original character with modern comfort.
But what I really love about this wedding venue is the setting. With outstanding views of the Chess Valley (watch the video if you don’t believe me!), the house is surrounded with immaculate landscaped gardens, perfect for creating a stunning cinematic wedding film. There is even a long driveway for making that all-important entrance with style!
The magical Winters Tale Country Barn, Buckinghamshire
If you are looking for a barn in Buckinghamshire for your wedding venue, the Winters Tale Country Barn would be perfect.
The bright, spacious barn is set in a peaceful location surrounded by spectacular country views – all the ingredients you need to create a stunning cinematic wedding video!
Licensed for civil ceremonies, you can choose the main barn with its vaulted, beamed ceilings or get married in the quiet gardens next to the 17th century farmhouse.
But for me, what really sets this venue apart is the team that manage the venue. Lovely is the word I would use to describe them! They are 100% focused on creating the perfect wedding day and willing to work closely with the rest of the wedding team, including florists, wedding videographers and photographers to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible. As someone who wants to create the perfect cinematic wedding video, that level of care is priceless and one of the reasons I am so pleased to be one of their preferred suppliers.
Waddesdon Manor: the perfect backdrop for an amazing wedding video
If you would like to get married in a fairy-tale French château, then look no further than Waddesdon Manor.
Located near Aylesbury, Waddesdon sits in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside and is renowned for its amazing locally sourced food and excellent wines.
Steeped in history and character, you can choose from three unique wedding venues, each offering a stunning backdrop for your cinematic wedding video. There’s the Manor House itself, with its exquisite interiors and surrounded by National Trust Gardens; the beautiful and historic 19th century Dairy with its tranquil waterside setting; or the Five Arrows – the Grade II listed boutique hotel, perfect for a more intimate day.
And another reason to love Waddesdon – whichever venue you choose for you big day; you’ll can still have video taken with the Manor house as your backdrop. Perfect!
Kirtlington Park for your perfect Downton Abbey moment
If you dream of getting married at a stately home, then you simply have to take a look at Kirtlington Park. Set in stunning gardens and Capability Brown designed parkland, this fabulous 18th century country house simply takes your breath away. Kirtlington Park is considered to be one of the finest country house wedding venues in Oxfordshire, and having been there several times, I have to agree!
Elegant, glamourous and picture-perfect – it’s a wedding videographers dream location and absolutely ideal for drone footage to capture the full splendour of the venue.
And if that’s not enough, the wedding team are just lovely. Thoughtful, responsive and a delight to work with – everything you want on your big day. I am truly delighted to be one of their preferred suppliers.
The magnificent Stoke Park, Buckinghamshire
Imagine getting married with a magnificent 200 year old white Palladian Mansion as your backdrop. Then welcome to Stoke Park!
Set within 300 acres of stunning historic parkland and gorgeous gardens, Stoke Park is simply breathtakingly beautiful. Luxury and elegance exudes from every aspect of this wedding venue, providing unrivalled backdrops for your cinematic wedding film.
Grand, ornate, stunning – there simply aren’t enough adjectives to describe this magnificent venue, and why for my lovely couples it was their first and only choice. It’s also why I’m so pleased to be one of their preferred suppliers, as it’s an absolute pleasure to showcase Stoke Park’s full grandeur in my cinematic wedding films.
