Our wedding film love story
How did you guys meet?
We met at university, both studying sports. We were on an outdoor adventure residential in Cornwall and met at the bar. Conor believes I ordered shots at 2pm but I don’t recall this information. We spent the rest of the evening dancing and chatting, and we have spoken every day since.
Tell me a bit about the two of you, what do you guys do? How do you spend your time?
Conor and I are both teachers and love what we do. I am a primary school teacher and Conor, PE. We love spending time with our friends so go out regularly or love having people over to our house for dinner and drinks. I play netball every week and Conor plays football. We love keeping active and love going out for dinner!
How did the proposal go down? (All the gushy details, I love this bit!)
Conor planned a walk and picnic in the woods near us in January. We walked over the fields, and he had set out a blanket, balloons and music playing. We sat down and he told me to close my eyes. When I opened them, he was down on one knee. We had champagne and a picnic and sat for hours in the sun in the woods. When we came back to the house, Conor had our friends decorate it and we celebrated that evening.
How did you choose your wedding venue(s)?
Because we were in lockdown, we looked at venues that were close to us online. We saw Lillibrooke and knew it was the one!! We had a zoom with one of the managers who showed us around and we immediately fell in love with it. Before we could go and look around, we went there and peeped over the wall (I don’t think we were supposed to and Conor got a few nettle scratches but it was worth it).
What sort of experience do you want your guests to have?
We want our guests to just have fun! We have said we would love to be guests at our wedding as we have so many parts that we know they are going to love. We want it to be a relaxed atmosphere and then lots of dancing in the evening.
Can you describe some of the details and stylings, does your wedding have a theme?
Our theme is quite rustic. We have lots of eucalyptus and flowers, tea lights and fairy lights.
What was the hardest decision during the planning?
The hardest decision was our guest list as we had lots of friends we wanted to invite, and we don’t like disappointing people. Second to this was making a table plan and fitting everyone in.
What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?
Enjoy it! Talk through all the details together so that it is a joint decision and celebrate the milestones like counting down, booking the venue, or booking in main suppliers. Don’t sweat over the guest list; people are very understanding.
