Our wedding film love story
How did you guys meet?
We met online in 2020.
We had started chatting in the October, but she was hard to pin down and it took me several months to finally get to see her in person in late December.
We had to move our first date back a day, because of the lockdown, the restaurants were shutting and our reservation was cancelled. On the night I got lost in the woods trying to use up a little time to not be too early and destroyed my loafers in the process as it was a very wet day, so I arrived at her door a bit bedraggled, and she was nowhere near ready! This gave me an insight into her timekeeping which hasn’t improved since!
We headed out to find somewhere to eat and I had to admire her resilience and hope to get us into a restaurant with no booking the day before everything was closing. We didn’t get in, but as luck would have it Zara is an amazing cook and rustled up a stunning chicken curry. At that point I knew she was special.
A few days later during the Christmas break, we spent lots more time together and I have to admit, it involved me breaching lockdown on countless occasions!
Tell me a bit about the two of you, what do you guys do? How do you spend your time?
I am a Sales Director and Zara is a Dentist. We love spending time doing up our house, having amazing holidays, date nights and spending time with our children.
We both believe that having amazing experiences and creating lasting memories is the key to happiness, so even though life is hectic, we try to make sure we make time for us.
We also both love cooking, so any opportunity to have people round to the house so we can treat them and ourselves is always on the agenda
How did the proposal go down? (All the gushy details, I love this bit!)
I had planned to propose on our holiday in Qatar last April. I had Esha, Zara’s eldest, manage through a clever trick to, get Zara to put on a ring sizer pretending there was another ring that needed adjusting, so I had the right fit.
On the day itself, I had booked a desert safari and camel ride. As it happened a smelly camel and going up and down on sand dunes just didn’t quite seem to present the right moment, so I spent the day carrying around the ring and was generally petrified it would fall out of my pocket somewhere in the sand.
I had already let the kids in on the secret and it was all planned for that evening back at the hotel in their beautiful restaurant the Coya Doha.
So, I waited until everything felt ready and then I got down on one knee in the restaurant in front of our kids. It was a special moment! Then we all went back to our apartment and the kids all did speeches!
How did you choose your wedding venue(s)?
Zara has lived near Taplow for many years, and she said we just had to go and look at the venue that she had heard of called Hedsor. It is truly special. We went to one of their open days and were hooked immediately.
What sort of experience do you want your guests to have?
Fun!
We just want everyone to have a good time. We want them to meet new people, eat wonderful food, have a boogie and create lasting happy memories.
Can you describe some of the details and stylings, does your wedding have a theme?
It is simple and elegant, touches of green and gold.
What was the hardest decision during the planning?
Trying to keep the numbers down!
What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?
Keep on top of the plans. Make a planner. We have made a final month planner and have written everything down so we try not to forget anything.
